The city of Bourges, France, is the 2028 European Capital of Culture. The curatorial and artistic project The international of rivers will be a key element of its programme. Within this framework, it rethinks Europe’s relationship with its watersheds and living ecosystems. Through exhibitions, research presentations and public assemblies, The international of rivers extends the cultural imagination of what a “terrestrial body” can mean in an era of ecological destruction. It offers a platform for transnational collaborations, connecting local river territories to global movements for the rights of nature.
